Transformation Consulting Intern - Full time - Detroit
GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Transformation Consulting Intern works under the guidance of Transformation Consulting Leaders to support projects focused on enhancing operational systems and functions within or between corporate entities.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The intern may either take responsibility for independent assignments that are well-defined and limited in scope or join project teams to assist on more complex initiatives.
Typical project work involves collecting and analyzing data, observing and documenting processes, conducting statistical analyses, and applying LEAN methodologies for the benefit of department staff and clients.
The intern will collaborate with performance improvement staff, analysts, project leaders, and stakeholders to ensure work effort is aligned with key metrics and KPIs.
Responsibilities also include preparing reports, presentations, and recommendations for management, and helping implement proposed solutions whenever possible.
This role is intended for individuals who are actively pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Public Health, or Business Administration, and who have an interest in health care operations. Candidates must demonstrate strong communication abilities, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills, as well as the capability to interact effectively with colleagues and clients.
This is a temporary, summer student position.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Applicants must be currently enrolled in undergraduate or graduate courses at a college or university.
Interest in applying academic knowledge to a healthcare setting
Intermediate to advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Copilot
Experience building interactive dashboards, such as with Power BI, and querying databases
Ability to manage multiple tasks at once
Capable of automating tasks and optimizing workflows with scripts or AI tools
Successful completion of a statistics course
Experience conducting time studies
