Supply Technician - Full Time- Detroit (Days)
GENERAL SUMMARY:
Are you organized, detail-oriented, and love keeping things running smoothly? As a Shipping & Supply Specialist, you’ll be the go-to person for prepping items for shipping, coordinating freight pick-ups, and ensuring everything is delivered where it needs to be—quickly and accurately. From maintaining supply levels to improving processes, you’ll play a critical role in keeping our operations seamless and efficient.
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
- Master the Shipping Hustle: Coordinate pickups with freight carriers (FedEx, UPS, and more) while ensuring all parcels meet shipping standards and safety requirements.
2. Inspect Like a Pro: Check packages for correct labeling, proper preparation, and compliance with safety standards (hazardous or radioactive materials included).
3. Be a Delivery Dynamo: Quickly and accurately deliver supplies to patient care areas, ensuring their needs are always met.
4. Stay Stocked & Spotless: Keep supply levels adequate, maintain sterility, and ensure carts are clean and organized for easy access.
5. Charge Control: Collect and batch patient charge cards daily to help keep everything in check.
6. On-the-Go Ordering: Use handheld technology to order and maintain inventory levels, ensuring no supply shortages.
7. Receive & Distribute: Check in shipments, verify details, and deliver supplies to the right locations with a friendly signature swap.
8. Problem Solver Extraordinaire: Handle calls, resolve routine issues, and collaborate with your supervisor on bigger challenges.
9. Mail Magic: Sort incoming mail and prep outgoing mail for delivery.
10. Office Hero: Keep copiers on the first and second floors running smoothly by refilling toner, staples, and paper.
11. Safety Inspector: Check inventory for expired or non-sterile items and ensure equipment inspections are up-to-date.
12. Process Innovator: Suggest new ways to minimize waste, improve inventory control, and make our processes even better.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent with some computer knowledge, typing
ability and good communications skills. - Approximately six (6) months previous experience in a warehouse or stock
department or requisitioning, ordering, or receiving supplies environment in order to
gain a working knowledge of the operations and procedures.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Normal warehouse environment up to 50 percent of work time with exposure to
noise, dust, extreme temperatures, and dirt. Normal hospital environment up to 50
percent of work time with exposure to communicable diseases and infection from
working on patient floors. - Occasional (up to 20 percent of work time) potential for physical injury including
back/muscle strain when lifting or moving items and cuts from razors/knives when
opening packages. - Ability to lift, move, push, pull, and transport items weighing up to 40 pounds. Ability
to concentrate and pay close attention to detail when checking orders and
processing inventory.
