GENERAL SUMMARY:

The Supervisor-Employee Health and Safety (EH&S) position is responsible for managing, implementing and administering standardized EH & S processes to ensure safety and health compliance to federal, state, and local regulations as well as Corporate Policies and Procedures in the healthcare setting. The Supervisor-EH&S is expected to contribute to the achievement of world-class status through managing the elimination of occupational injuries/illnesses. This position will specifically focus on improving and safeguarding the health and safety of all employees, ensuring compliance, supporting World Class Safety Management System. Supervises the daily operations of Employee Health Service. Responsible for strategic planning, budget monitoring, customer service improvements and support staff management. Assists the Administrator with the implementation of short and long-term plans for the department. May represent the department on various internal and external committees. Must be a team player with excellent oral and written communication skills to support, direct, and work with employees, leadership, physicians and various external audiences.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Analyze injury/illness experience, identify/track injury correlation, determine root causes, determine corrective action and communicate this information to leadership and Employee Safety Manager
  • Providing safety and health assistance to management, supervisors, employees, and collateral duty safety representatives.
  • Conducting incident reports and entering reports and findings into safety management systems.
  • Performing safety inspections, and evaluations to identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Developing and delivering training one-on-one, in groups, in classrooms, and via web-delivered media.
  • Providing outreach to employees, promoting safety awareness throughout the organization.
  • Investigating complaints and reports of unsafe or unhealthful working conditions; provide recommendations for abatement action; and verify completion of abatement action.
  • Maintaining recordkeeping for injury/illness cases in accordance with OSHA requirements.
  • Plans and directs clinic activities including the implementation of systems to improve patient access to clinic; patient educational programs; development of marketing opportunities; improvement in patient waiting time, etc.
  • Assesses and develops appropriate policies, procedures, and systems for center such as relating to personnel, business office, patient care flow, and medical records.
  • Participates in the planning, development and implementation of clinic goals and objectives in order to ensure adherence to JCAHO standards, OSHA, ambulatory care and nursing procedures.
  • Performs personnel functions, including interviewing job applicants, hiring, reviewing performance, and taking disciplinary action as necessary. 
  • Acts as a patient liaison to ensure expedient and proper handling of complaints or problems.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental Health and Safety, Nursing, Clinical or 10 years relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Three to five (3-5) years of Clinical, Safety, Environmental, Engineering or Clinical related experience.
  • Three to five (3-5) years of experience applying regulations and standards applicable to occupational safety and health, environmental safety and health, industrial hygiene or clinical in a variety of settings.
  • Three to five (3-5) years of experience using Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word applications.
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment, and collaborate with multiple campus stakeholders.
  • Must be able to conduct audits, inspections and fieldwork that may include climbing, walking, standing, squatting or kneeling in a variety of indoor and outdoor environmental conditions.
