Sr. Physician Communications Specialist | Physician Marketing & Communication
GENERAL SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Manager of Physician Communications, the Senior Physician Communications Specialist is responsible for supporting the work of the Physician Engagement team. With guidance from the Manager, this Specialist helps to create engaging internal and external communications that serve to enhance physician engagement. This role supports the physician engagement strategies through aligning messaging with the expansive physician community, which serves to advance the overall strategic goals of the organization
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Responsible for meeting timelines and demonstrating the ability to work on multiple projects for several internal teams. Knowledge of multiple media formats (web, electronic, and social media) is extremely important.
· Ability to connect respectfully with clinicians and physician leaders to advance the agenda of the leadership team across the enterprise.
· Primary areas of focus include:
o Collaborate with Physician Engagement team to ensure integration of HFMG and other affiliated physician communications.
o Support local hospital communications intended to inform physicians and other clinicians/researchers.
o Partner with team members to create innovative strategies to further connect with all physicians throughout the enterprise.
o Partner with system internal communications team to coordinate and ensure physician-related news is shared via system vehicles, when appropriate.

o Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build positive relationships at all levels.
o Capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously, completing them within designated timelines.
o Proficiency with SharePoint and other desktop publishing software.
o Ability to assist in creating communication plans that may include presentations, talking points, articles for publications, web content, social media posts, etc.
o Is open to learning new skills to aid in fostering physician engagement, e.g., setting up webinars, helping to facilitate small events, etc.
o Perform quality control for departmental content through editing and proofing publications and other collateral.
o Superior verbal and written communications skills, organizational skills, and attention to detail
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
• Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, or a related field required.
• Five (5) or more years of experience in public relations or a related field, preferably one involving a large workforce.
• Health care experience a plus.
• Must be guided by a compelling “client/customer” orientation.
• Excellent public relations, journalistic writing/editing, and web-based communications skills.
• Knowledge of AP Style guidelines and ability to research topics as needed.
• Knowledge of and active participation on Social Media platforms to further integrate into overall physician engagement strategy. Must be open to join all social media sites used by the System.
• Works extremely well with colleagues and customers and takes initiative.
• Computer skills necessary include word processing, SharePoint and Web technologies and development.
