Security Canine Officer - Full Time/Afternoon Shift - Allegiance Health - Jackson, MI
Minimum Education
- High School diploma or equivalent
Minimum Work Experience
- 1 year prior security experience
Required Licenses/Certifications
- CPI Training (Crisis Prevention and Intervention) within six (6) months of hire.
- I.A.H.S.S. (International Association of Hospital Security and Safety) certification within 6 months of hire.
- Valid Michigan driver’s license and clean drivers record.
- Successful completion of K-9 Academy Training Facility Certification within six (6) months of hire
Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
- Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
- Proficiency with computers and related software.
- Ability to assist, lift (very heavy, 80+ pounds), and restrain patients/visitors.
- Ability to control animal that will pull, tug, jump on leash that handler is holding.
- Must be physically capable of working with and caring for the canine both physically and mentally, 24 hours/7 days week/365 days a year.
- Ability to stand for extended periods, holding and manipulating tools and equipment. Frequent walking, squatting, reaching above shoulder height, fine manipulation of equipment, ability to respond to emergency situations and climb up and down stairs in a timely manner. Requires the ability to maintain the physical endurance necessary to serve effectively as a Canine Officer.
- Completion of Control Center Training equipment and documentation procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of Security/Law enforcement practice and procedures.
