GENERAL SUMMARY:

Based in Saginaw, Michigan and reporting to the Henry Ford Health Vice President of the Neuroscience service line, the Director of the Neuroscience Service Line is responsible to the Joint Operating Committee (JOC) that governs the Neuroscience service line under the scope of the Joint Operating Agreement (JOA) between Henry Ford Health and Covenant HealthCare.   

This leader provides overall strategic and operational leadership for the JOA. Manages the operations of the service line, serves as the content expert, and coordinates the use of human and financial resources to ensure the service line operates efficiently, effectively, safely and timely.

Working in tandem with the Physician Medical Director dyad partner to further the accomplishment of the JOA’s goals. Responsible for supporting the integration of Henry Ford Health, Covenant HealthCare, and multi-disciplinary group of providers to deliver high-value care across the continuum of care to patients & the community.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

·       Establishes market strategy, service offerings and clinical program in close collaboration with senior leadership, providers, support services, and with patient/family input. Develops specific objectives, goals, targets, and action plans to implement the strategy and then regularly monitors progress and achievement toward the strategy. Communicates progress toward achievement of goals and actively solicits feedback from all stakeholders.

·       Leads, as needed, business-planning initiatives to ensure state-of-the-art and comprehensive services in response to innovation, technology, strategic development, or other factors. Performs cost/benefit analysis of all proposed new services/programs. Promotes and monitors effectiveness of all existing and new services.

·       Evaluates, develops, and adapts the business processes of the clinical service line(s) to meet the ever-changing healthcare environment and needs of patients and families.

·       Responsible for programmatic growth, physician recruitment, alignment or acquisitions; the evaluation, development and adaptation of clinical/business processes for the service line.

·       Partners with other key departments to develop annual operating and capital budgets for the JOA, along with integrated strategic and financial plan.

·       Facilitates a culture of teamwork, collaboration, and accountability across disciplines within the service line.

·       Coordinates with physician leadership to identify clinical and non-clinical technology, software, and equipment needs in support of the service line.

·       Partners with physician lead to implement clinical standards and programs; new programs and services, in an efficient/cost effective manner to provide a unified approach to care delivery.

·       Develops and implements cost, Clinical Process Reliability (CPR), and efficiency plans. Identifies necessary resources for patient care and programmatic development.

·       Collaborates with Population Health leaders to improve health outcomes within the community.

·       Keeps abreast of regulatory, legal, reimbursement changes, and industry trends.

·       Establishes appropriate database registries, certifications, and external benchmark reasons to deliver outstanding clinical care.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

·       Bachelor’s degree in health care administration, business administration or related field, required. Masters degree preferred.

·       Minimum of five (5) years of broad healthcare experience including knowledge of clinical quality, regulations, finance, managed care, capitation, and delivery systems.

·       Minimum of three (3) years of service line specific leadership experience.

·       Demonstrated analytical skills required for the ability to develop and prepare analysis, reports, and presentations, and to manipulate database information from hospital systems.

·       Excellent problem solving, interpersonal, and communication skills to determine

appropriateness of responses to physician concerns and for resolving conflicts and developing solutions to a variety of situations.

·       Interpersonal and communication skills necessary to effectively provide leadership, consultation, and technical support to management and personnel, to effectively convey results and recommendations, and to interact with outside consultants and vendors.

·       Proven ability to lead and implement change.
