GENERAL SUMMARY:
Communication operators answer all incoming telephone internal and external calls for multi-site business units for physicians, nurses and patients. Operators prioritize and route communications to the proper destinations via appropriate device, land line, cell text, etc. Provide medical communication via physicians preferred method of contact. Responsibilities include but are not limited; Page physicians, Medical Staff Leadership. Activate mission critical emergency codes, traumas, Cath Lab, OR on call teams, Stroke Alerts etc. Monitor all alarms, dispatch to Security/Police Authority.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform high phone volume processing in an accurate and rapid manner for multiple site business units for which processes and procedures vary.
- Answer and route calls for the Service Response Center.
- Page physicians and facilitate patron communications as required.
- Provide messaging for medical staff and departments as directed.
- Including multi-channel activity from physicians, patients and other customers to assure customer satisfaction regarding medical consultation, general information, physician discharge, physician communication etc., as requested.
- Serves as a backup resource for device/system failures for multi-site business units.
- Coordinate and launch emergency activations of emergency procedures and 1st responder teams.
- Manage the consult communication process.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- High School Diploma, PC Advanced skills, College course work in medical terminology and communications software applications preferred.
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED:
- 1 to 2 year's experience in high volume communications system, emergency dispatch and competency with medical terminology, preferably in a multi-site healthcare environment.
