Nurse Practitioner Physician Assistant MICU Command Center Nights 36 hours Detroit hours
Exciting new position working at the only virtual ICU in the State of Michigan! Position is located just a few blocks from Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit.
- You will be managing critical patients from this command center location for the Henry Ford Health System.
- This individual will work collaboratively with a team of 5 which includes a physician, 3 nurses and 1 APP. to support MICU's at four hospitals while standardizing critical care and improving metrics.
- This is the time to join this department as we grow to cover additional Henry Ford facilities while having the opportunity to work in an office while impacting patient outcomes.
- 36 hours with full time benefits, approximately 1 weekend every 3 weeks.
- APP will provide nighttime inpatient critical care within the Medical/Surgical/Neuro Intensive Care Units, in collaboration with a board certified intensivist via bedside or virtual capacity.
- Looking for candidates with strong medical or surgical background who possess critical thinking skills and can function in a team setting.
- Highly autonomous position with opportunity for various procedures related to the ICU. (CVC, arterial line placement, chest tube, thoracentesis and paracentesis).
- Experience with procedures is preferred but not required.
- Specific procedures within the Department of Medicine are individually credentialed as indicated by training and experience.

GENERAL SUMMARY:
- The NP or PA will work in a collaborative, multidisciplinary critical care unit.
- The NP or PA will be responsible for the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, education, consultation, and care coordination as a first line provider to critically ill patients and their families.
- Provides inpatient medical care for critically ill patients requiring ICU level of care.
- Works in collaboration with intensivist physicians, attending physicians, consultants, house officers, nurses, and other members of the medical care team to ensure that patient outcomes are achieved safely and efficiently.
- Specific procedures as per credentialing as indicated by training and experience.
- Requires a Bachelor's Degree; completion of an AMA approved Physician Assistant program; and Michigan state licensure and continued certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistant (NCCPA) -OR- Requires a BSN; completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program; Certification in one of the following: ANA certification exam in a nursing specialty field; National Certification Corporation (NCC); National Certification Board of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners and Associates; and/or certification from Michigan State Board of Nursing as a Registered Nurse and a Nurse Practitioner (NP)
- Requires good verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills as well as organizational skills, familiarity with computers, and excellent analytical and decision- making skills
- Ability to react to crisis situations quickly and effectively using department protocols and guidelines
- At least 1 year of inpatient APP experience is required.
