Nurse Practitioner Physician Assistant Cardiac Surgery Full time Days
Exciting Cardiac Opportunity Monday-Friday position with every 3rd weekend and holiday requirement.
- Provider will be responsible for providing advanced patient assessment, development of differential diagnoses, advanced clinical decision making, initiation/modification of treatment plans, collaboration with consulting services to implement recommendations, and performance of invasive procedures in collaboration with attending Cardiac surgeons for primary patients in the CVS GPU.
- Additional responsibilities include performing history/physical and consultations for other inpatient services on non-primary patients being worked up for cardiac surgery.
- Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant must be comfortable with their autonomy to practice independently as clinical activities are authorized and performed under the supervision but not necessarily in the presence of the physician member or medical staff.
- Prescriptive authority is a delegated privilege under the collaborating physician.
- .Clinical skills will encompass a broad range of cognitive and technical clinical skills. Specific procedures within the specialty are individually credentialed, based on the individual’s background training and experience.
GENERAL SUMMARY: The Specialty/Invasive Nurse Practitioner (NP) will work in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment. The Specialty/Invasive NP will be responsible for the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, education, consultation, and care coordination as a first line provider to patients and their families.
Provides inpatient and/or outpatient medical care. Works in collaboration with attending physicians, advanced practice providers, consultants, house officers, nurses, and other members of the medical care team to ensure that patient outcomes are achieved safely and efficiently.
Specific procedures as per credentialing as indicated by training and experience. Works in one of the following departments: Cardiovascular Medicine, Emergency Medicine, ICU, Interventional Radiology, Nephrology, Neurology, Neurosurgery, Oncology, Orthopedics, Otolaryngology, Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine, Surgery, Urgent Care, Urology.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Requires Michigan state licensure and continued certification by the National. Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED:
- Current certification as a Certified Nurse Practitioner. Current State license as a Registered Nurse - OR- Requires Michigan state licensure and continued certification by the National. Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
- Current BLS. Current ACLS/ATLS/PALS provider status as required by department.
- DEA needed prior to start
