Manager Market Analytics - Full time - Detroit
GENERAL SUMMARY:
This position performs project work of a sophisticated and complex nature, with responsibility for project leadership, planning, analysis and execution aligned with Market priorities, strategies and operational goals. Supervises analytics team members by assigning projects, providing direction, coaching, mentoring, hiring and performance evaluation. Prepares reports and recommendations for management and coordinates implementation as necessary. Acts as consultant to projects outside of specific assignments but pertaining to areas of expertise. Performs departmental administrative activities as assigned and communicates regularly with stakeholders from across the Market and System. Works on a wide variety of priorities and projects individually or as part of a project team with Market, System and business unit senior leaders, their executive teams and project teams.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Manages analytics team workload, guiding day-to-day activities and assigning projects in accordance with Market strategic and operational goals and priorities.
· Guides and mentors staff in performing analytics and decision support activities. Identifies internal staff development needs and opportunities for improvement or enhancement of staff skills.
· Facilitates analytics for large market-wide or multi-entity projects, guiding teams with interpretation of data and analytics.
· Works individually, as a project team member and with market and business unit executives and their teams, including quality, finance, PI and revenue cycle, on a wide variety of priorities and projects.
· Develops and maintains effective communications with Corporate Analytics to ensure Market leaders have the information needed to succeed with key initiatives.
· Integrates and aligns analytics support with Market and Hospital performance improvement structure.
· Works collaboratively with analytics leaders in other markets to ensure sharing of best practices and products.
· Provides subject matter expertise and quality assurance for complex, data-driven analytics projects.
· Performs departmental administrative activities and communicates regularly with stakeholders from across the System.
· Executes the analytics plan with appropriate data mining and analytic techniques
· Performs QA on data and deliverables by analysts and own deliverables.
· Ensures project documentation is up to date and all projects are reviewed per analytics plan.
· Strives to meet project delivery within timelines.
· Develops and defines project scope and objectives.
· Provides periodic project updates to team leaders and project management reports, when needed.
· Prepares written and verbal presentations of findings, conclusions, and recommendations.
· Keeps management informed of project progress and issues, particularly as they relate to schedule, resources and products.
· Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Industrial Engineering or a relevant clinical or operational field. Master’s degree preferred.
• Seven (7) years of related experience in an appropriate technical field.
• Must possess previous supervisory and/or consulting experience as well as one or more specific areas of relevant expertise.
• Significant project management experience and outstanding analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage large, complex, simultaneous assignments with potentially conflicting priorities and deadlines.
• Ability to lead/provoke/influence the thinking of senior level administrators and medical leadership.
• Strong leadership/mentoring skills applicable to multi-disciplinary teams for strategic and operational improvement and operational analytics staff.
• Strong base of technical, facilitative, and process improvement knowledge.
• Ability to teach complex technical/analytical concepts to non-management services managers and staff.
• Knowledge of and access to relevant analytics tools, system databases and data gathering/analytics techniques.
• Sound decision-making skills.
• Strong diplomacy and collaboration skills.
• Strong computing skills.
