IT Storage Engineer | Technology Services | Full Time
GENERAL SUMMARY:
As an IT Storage Engineer, the candidate will be part of the Henry Ford Health System (HFHS) representing the IT infrastructure services, on the IT Storage and Backup team. The role primarily supports mission critical systems on behalf of HFHS, which is a $7.5 billion-dollar major academic healthcare organization in southeast Michigan, with over 30,000 total employees.
The IT Storage Engineer will participate in the configuration and implantation of new storage infrastructure and the ongoing management of existing storage devices. The IT Storage Engineer will ensure data quality and data availability through consistent storage provisioning and maintenance.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Experience supporting and administering storage on DELL EMC Isilon, VNX and Unity storage arrays and NetApp CDOT and E-series storage systems
- Experience archiving data to DELL EMC ECS Arrays
- Zone Administration experience on Cisco and Brocade SAN Switches
- Hands-on experience with Snapshot and Remote Replication Technologies like Isilon SnapshotIQ/SyncIQ and NetAPP Snapshot/SnapMirror
- Experience with AVAMAR/DataDomain a plus
- Basic understanding of storage replication using SRDF and other replicating technologies
- Allocate storage to business and clinical units across the enterprise, based on established requirements, available disk space, and future growth
- Implement and maintain procedures for storage change management, availability management, backup management, and incident management
- Recommend, install, and configure new and existing storage devices and corresponding software
- Implement and maintain testing processes for current, new, and modified storage appliances and software
- Day to day management of all storage related support activities for HFHS
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Bachelor's Degree or 5 (five) years of IT experience in lieu of a degree required.
- Five plus (5+) years of IT related work experience required.
- Experience with DELL EMC Isilon, VNX and Unity storage arrays and NetApp CDOT and E-series storage systems preferred.
- Knowledge of MS Office Suite including Visio preferred.
- 3 - 5 years of extensive experience in Data protection solutions
- Comprehensive experience with the EMC Avamar and Data Domain products
- Support a variety of backup configurations and OS/database platforms
- Knowledge of replication of backups to DR site
- Knowledge of Windows, Linux and VMware backups
- Knowledge of SQL, Oracle and Exchange backups
- Problem solver with troubleshooting, decision making, and analytical skills
- Able to work and interact with others in a team environment
- Ability to work flexible hours and 24x7 on-call
Desired Skills:
- Knowledge of air-gapped data protection solutions
- Experience managing File Services on NetApp and Dell Isilon Storage Systems
- Good knowledge of NTFS and *nix File permissions
- Experience with Block Storage Administration on Pure, NetApp and IBM Flash Storage Systems
- Experience with Brocade and Cisco Fibre Channel Network Administration
- Python or PowerShell scripting
