GENERAL SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Vice President of Finance for the Henry Ford Medical Group and Ambulatory, the Finance Director will oversee the operational finance activities of Henry Ford Medical Group, Legacy Ascension Medical Group and MSU-HCI. The primary focus of the director will be on managing the operating and capital budgets for the above divisions and being a strategic partner to the Senior Henry Ford Health leaders responsible for said divisions.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides leadership and direction for the development of HFMG, Legacy Ascension Medical Group and other business divisions to contribute to the attainment of short and long range financial and business goals.
  • Accountable for all aspects of financial performance and growth within areas of responsibility.
  • Manages the month end financial process up to and including financial reporting to ensure leadership receives timely and accurate data.
  • Provides explanation of variances and advises leadership on areas of opportunity and/or risk.
  • Collaborate with said divisions to develop action plans in response to variance from budget including alignment and communication with key program and/or project stakeholders.
  • Provide accurate and timely financial analyses and trends of services and overall program/project performance.
  • Closely monitor financial and statistical data for early identification of trends.
  • Oversee and manage the preparation of financial return on investment (ROI) requests and lookback reporting to determine financial viability and to ensure that financial resources are optimized.
  • Prepare and present reports including ROIs to relevant boards and committees, including the Financial Oversight Committee.
  • Directs the annual budget process for HFMG in concert with system assumptions working with other key leaders and departments. 
  • Directs the short- and long-term forecasting and ensures consistency with HFH system guidance.
  • Provides training, continuing education, and development for staff members to ensure high levels of financial and operational acumen.
  • Serves as a role model for leadership and creates an environment that recognizes the centrality of employee team members as our greatest resource.
  • Collaborates with all levels of leadership, support staff and external resources to achieve vision and strategic direction for areas of responsibility. 
  • Facilitates a highly matrix approach in the development of services and displays the ability to work effectively within the HFH’s decision-making and organizational structure. 
  • Effectively communicates key information to stakeholders, representing Henry Ford Health and other related divisions
  • Creates an environment of continual process improvement and adaptive innovation responsive to the needs of the customer. 

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Minimum of 5 -10 years of progressive financial experience within management roles. 
  • Minimum of 3 years of healthcare experience preferred. 
  • Proficient with databases and large sets of data. 
  • In depth analytical and strategic thinking skills.
  • Prior finance team leadership experience required. 

EDUCATION REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor's Degree with a finance, accounting or business major, required. MBA or CPA required.
