GENERAL SUMMARY:

Under minimal supervision, directs and coordinates the activities of all Patient Registration areas to provide prompt and accurate scheduling and registration of patients, insurance verification, billing, collections, cash posting, and payer compliance. Protects the integrity of the hospital accounts receivable and respects the privacy of patients. Assist Leadership with interviewing new hires and orientating and providing training to all employees.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Monitors the day-to-day operations of the Patient Registration Services Department.
2. Responsible for the management of Decedent Affairs, patient belongings and valuables as defined by the Business Unit.
3. Review and recommend HELIOS tickets, EPIC enhancements and monitors for desired outcome and resolution as needed.
4. Provide support to department for all systems used.
5. Identifies and gather data on policies, department standard operating procedures, registration and insurance changes. Updates department staff on various issues and changes as needed.
6. May develop, maintain and present training materials and special training classes for the Patient Registration Services department. Coordinate and conduct training for external customers, as needed.
7. May monitor and evaluate progress of trainees and provides verbal and written feedback. Provide guidance and training to staff on specific job responsibilities.
8. May develop and post employee work schedules and assigns task based on the department workload and availability of the team. May monitor and maintain employee’s time and attendance record.
9. May review and reconcile Kronos time entry and requested scheduled time off.
10. May recommend and prepare corrective action forms for performance and attendance violations.
11. May prepare and/or provide input for performance evaluations.
12. Assist with problem resolutions and complaints.
13. Work closely with other departments to update them regarding delays in registration due to financial or computer system problems.
14. Makes recommendations for process improvements where necessary.
15. Provide backup support to other Coordinators functions and performs the duties of a Patient Registration Service Representative when staff is short
16. Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent required. Associates Degree preferred.
  • Three (3) years of experience related to patient admitting, registration and/or insurance eligibility and verification in a hospital or medical office setting required.
  • Revenue Cycle super-users and subject matter experts.
  • Strong computer skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
  • Experience providing constructive coaching and feedback to co-workers in a positive manner preferred.
  • Experience influencing others to achieve team goals; interacting in ways that bring out the best in others; keeping team members in an upbeat mode; encouraging cooperation, pride, well-being and trust within the group.
  • Experience as a Patient Service Representative preferred.
