Coordinator Environment of Care (EOC), Life Safety, and Emergency Preparedness
GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Coordinator - Environment of Care (EOC), Life Safety, and Emergency Preparedness serves as a subject matter expert for all staff members related to EOC and life safety issues. In conjunction with various stakeholders, develops analyses and monitors regulatory metrics for improved compliance performance at the business unit level by identifying opportunities, providing information and consultation to leadership and departments with a focus on sustainable effectiveness. Exercises initiative, independence, and judgement regarding preparation of analysis, development of recommendations, and identification and resolution of problems. The Coordinator - Environment of Care (EOC), Life Safety, and Emergency Preparedness is responsible for implementing programs within the Emergency Department to improve the disaster preparedness for the hospital and region. Responsible for assistance in health system emergency preparedness training, drill planning, and implementation, coordinating with Region 2 North and Henry Ford Health System. Ensures that the medical center complies with all federal, state, and Joint Commission requirements regarding emergency preparedness. Acts as a liaison between the hospital and the emergency provider community to establish and build strong working relationships. This includes hazard vulnerability analyses, mitigation, preparedness, training and exercising, incident command, emergency response exercises for management and teams, development and review of the site emergency response codes, and business continuity.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
High School Diploma. Bachelor's Degree preferred or five years of progressive experience in a related field such as business, public health administration, or safety/emergency services.
Knowledge of Environment of Care and Life Safety requirements of regulatory and accrediting agencies.
At least two (2) years in safety in hospital or healthcare. Emergency Department experience preferred.
Demonstrated experiences in project management or planning.
Ability to independently develop and coordinate assigned activities.
Ability to mitigate hazards and monitor corrective actions.
Effective verbal, written, and presentation skills.
Interpersonal skills necessary to effectively exchange information, enhance relationships, lead staff and interacting with all levels of hospital staff, outside community agencies, and regulatory agencies.
Proficient computer skills preferred with experience working in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED:
IBFCSM Certified Healthcare Safety Professional (CHSP) within two (2) years of hire.
National Incident Management System (NIMS) 100, 200, 300, 400, 700, 800 within one (1) year of hire.
