EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field. Related and relevant experience or a demonstrated ability to perform the duties of the position may be considered in lieu of academic requirements. (Related experience is defined as six (6) years' experience in compliance.)
  • Master's Degree in related field, additional related certifications, preferred.
  • Minimum three (3) years in related health care field which may include experience in legal, compliance and/or audit and risk assessments or business area specific.
  • Minimum three (3) years in reading, analyzing and interpreting State and Federal laws, rules and regulations.
  • Experience with ERISA or Department of Labor regulations, highly preferred.
  • Experience with Mental Health Parity, highly preferred.
  • Experience with the Michigan Insurance Code, highly preferred.
  • Leadership/supervisory experience preferred.
  • Ability to develop and present complex materials in a clear, concise and persuasive manner, preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Government programs such as HIPAA legislation, privacy rules, or security standards, or federal regulations related to Medicare Parts C and D, Health Care Reform, Federal Programs.
  • Advanced knowledge of risk assessment concepts and generally accepted auditing principles.
  • Ability to plan, organize, direct and control projects while exercising high ethical standards and good judgment.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, interpersonal, problem solving, written and verbal communication skills, as well as the ability to apply concepts to practical situations.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, within a team environment and handle multiple assignments.
  • Working knowledge of PC applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
  • Other related skills and/or abilities may be required to perform this job.
  • Strong commitment to maintaining the integrity and effectiveness of the Office of Compliance.
  • Ability to research facts regarding issues and incidents.
  • Ability to liaison to other departments.
