This position is located on-site at the Durable Medical Equipment department. This position will work with customers, physicians, and other referral sources via phone, fax, email and in-person encounters, and will assist customers with education, training, and fitting (when necessary) for the product line. Customer Service responsibilities include processing referrals, hospital discharges, and face-to-face customer interaction, as well as familiarity with product and insurance regulations (private and Medicare/Medicaid). The Account Receivable responsibilities are as follows:

GENERAL SUMMARY:

The Accounts Receivable Representative is responsible for:

  • Processing insurance claims in compliance with payer requirements and assisting patients with personal balances.
  • Provides a variety of bookkeeping, record keeping, reconciliation and report production functions for the department. 
  • Administering patient financial policies and for assisting in the clerical functions of the department.
  • Posting payment,
  • Contractual discounts,
  • Other adjustment,
  • Charity care,
  • Bad debt transactions to the patient accounting system.

EDUCATION:

  • High school graduate or equivalent education.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Minimum of 3 - 5 years of experience in health care field such as billing/coding, 
  • Medical assistant or related experience.
  • Knowledge and experience with medical terminology either through educational or work experiences.
  • Data entry skills, strong math, accounting/bookkeeping skills and detail oriented.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications and strong customer service skills required.

PREFERRED QUALIFACTIONS:

  • Associate degree in healthcare billing and coding.
  • One (1) year of healthcare billing experience.
