Under general supervision of the billing supervisor or coordinator of billing services, performs more complex billing and computer-related functions requiring analysis, statistical reports and an in-depth understanding of the complete billing and accounts receivable systems.



  • Independently and accurately submits billable claims.
  • Independently maintains aged A/R and monitors and resolves credit balances.
  • Independently problem solves issues related to unbilled services and aging accounts receivable.  Provides leadership assistance with persistent accounts receivable issues.
  • Maintain expertise in documentation required by third party payors by interacting with these payors when necessary to ensure timely payment of claims.
  • Maintains statistical records to ensure accurate tracking of problem cases.
  • Independently reviews weekly and monthly reports on unbilled revenue and prepares for billing.
  • May prepare bank deposits, perform cash reconciliation, and accurately post cash.
  • Obtains missing documentation when necessary to convert claims to billable status by interacting and communicating with appropriate sources.
  • Verifies patient’s insurance coverage and make necessary changes in billing system.
  • Obtains insurance authorization for services and accurately documents in information system.
  • Verifies acceptance of claims by third party payors and work any edit reports for unaccepted claims.
  • Responsible for resolving billing related questions.
  • Provides assistance in training of billing personnel. Assists office personnel in the absence of coordinator/supervisor.
  • Promotes and ensures Community Care Services’ commitment to the Henry Ford Experience.
  • Performs other related duties and projects as assigned.


  • Completion of a high school diploma or GED required.
  • Advanced computer knowledge, keyboard experience, and Microsoft Office experience required.
  • Minimum of two years of billing experience required.
  • Home Infusion experience preferred.
  • Medical billing experience preferred.
  • College level coursework in business preferred.
  • General knowledge of medical coding and medical terminology related to billing, preferred.
  • Must project a professional and courteous image to internal and external customers, through all manners of communication.
  • Ability to analyze and improve billing procedures required.
  • Interpersonal, leadership and organizational skills are required.
  • Knowledge of basic accounting for cash application is preferred.
