Henry Ford Health is seeking an innovative leader for the role of Vice President - Revenue Cycle, Patient Access. This executive will have enterprise-wide responsibility over hospital patient access, financial clearance, and the centralized prior authorization function. In this pivotal position, you will work in collaboration with the Chief Revenue Officer to shape the future of Revenue Cycle operations across our acute care hospitals and employed physician practices.

Areas of Responsibility

Patient Access (Priority Focus Area)

  • Hospital Patient Access Departments
  • Central Authorization and Scheduling
  • Insurance Verification and Financial Clearance
  • Collaborating with Digital Front Door Strategies
  • Patient Experience Initiatives related to Access and Financial Navigation

The Vice President collaborates with clinical, operational, IT, and financial leaders to build and execute the Revenue Cycle Playbook—a comprehensive transformation framework advancing:

  • Access to Care and Financial Engagement
  • Yield Optimization & Risk Adjustment
  • A/R Acceleration & Denial Prevention
  • Cost-to-Collect Efficiency
  • Employee and Provider Engagement
  • Leading Patient Financial Experience

 

Key Transformational Priorities:

  • Reimagining Patient Access as a strategic differentiator, aligning people, process, and technology to remove barriers to care.
  • Driving automation and self-service within scheduling, authorizations, and verification workflows.
  • Supporting real-time eligibility and prior auth tools to enhance throughput and reduce denials.
  • Leveraging advanced analytics and AI to segment populations and proactively manage documentation, coding, and financial clearance.
  • Leading digital adoption of NLP, voice recognition, and clinical alerts in Epic.
  • Reducing reliance on paper-based documentation and moving scanning and transcription closer to the point of care.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Chief Revenue Officer to create and execute vision and strategies that deliver world-class revenue cycle services.
  • Lead a matrixed team to deliver measurable improvements in patient access, documentation integrity, coding accuracy, and financial performance.
  • Serve as a strategic partner to hospital presidents, service line leaders, finance teams, and clinical department administrators.
  • Ensure compliance, innovation, and continuous improvement across all areas of accountability.
  • Champion staff development, cultural inclusivity, and operational excellence across on-shore and off-shore teams.
  • Evaluate and implement technologies and outsourcing solutions to maximize efficiency and service.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in business, health administration, or a related field strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive revenue cycle leadership in a complex healthcare organization, including director-level responsibility.
  • Demonstrated experience managing Patient Access or front-end revenue cycle operations at scale.
  • Experience with Epic and digital revenue cycle solutions.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills; proven success leading transformational initiatives.
