Surgical Tech. First Assist
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
1. High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
2. Specific knowledge of surgical procedures within the operating room (OR), in addition to knowledge of surgical procedures, practices and techniques in providing patient care and assisting surgeons in the O.R.
3. Successful completion of the Surg Tech level I competencies to advance to a Level II Surg Tech or successfully demonstrated skills that meet the Level l competencies gained thru outside experience, minimum of two years of experience as a Surgical Technologist or six months specialized patient care training in the armed forces.
4. Physical ability to stand for long periods of time and lift anesthetized patients to position them for surgical procedures.
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED:
Current BLS required.
Graduate of CAAHEP (Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs) accredited Surgical Technology program preferred. Surgical Technologist certification preferred.
