What You'll Do
As a Surgical Scheduler, you will coordinate surgical procedures to maximize the efficient use of operating rooms, equipment, and staff while delivering exceptional service to patients and physician offices.
Responsibilities include:
- Schedule surgical procedures in collaboration with physician offices while adhering to departmental scheduling guidelines.
- Coordinate operating room assignments, equipment, and block times to maximize resource utilization.
- Gather and verify all required patient, demographic, insurance, and billing information to ensure accurate scheduling.
- Coordinate with Patient Admitting and other departments to prevent delays in scheduled procedures.
- Communicate scheduling updates with physicians, clinical teams, and patients.
- Adjust and reschedule surgeries as needed due to emergencies or unforeseen circumstances.
- Maintain accurate documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Provide exceptional customer service while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- One (1) year of applicable scheduling, administrative, or healthcare experience.
Required professional licensure or certification may be considered in lieu of education or experience, where applicable.
Preferred Qualifications
- Two (2) or more years of experience in a healthcare setting.
- Knowledge of insurance verification and prior authorization processes.
- Experience working with electronic medical records (EMR).
- Strong organizational, communication, and multitasking skills.
- Ability to prioritize work while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
