PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Supervises the work of Security personnel for an assigned shift or area. Ensures compliance to establish departmental and HFHS policies, procedures and practices. Conducts or causes to be conducted, investigations into alleged violations by shift personnel or personnel under his/her authority. Through documentation provided, administers proper corrective disciplinary action as defined by department and hospital policy.

Reviews or causes to be reviewed, all incident reports as well as any other formal documentation, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and timeliness. Ensure proper arrest procedures are followed conforming to Federal, State and Local laws as well to the department and HFHS policy and procedures.

Plans daily work schedules of a designated shift or area to establish adequate security coverage at the main hospital campus and all other designated HFHS properties. Conducts or causes to be conducted, a briefing or assigned shift or area, as well as provides relevant pass-on information for the following shift, via electronic media.

Conducts or causes to be conducted, routine inspection of satellite post and personnel.

Records or causes to be recorded time entry, ensuring timely/accurate pay for shift personnel. Attendance reports, training records, and/or other relative personnel records are to be kept accurately and timely ensuring any cause for action is timely. Overtime and exception reports are to be properly filled out and turned in timely for recording/review purposes.

Personal knowledge of all departmental electronic equipment, i.e. Matrix, C.C.T.V., L.E.I.N., Voice Recorder, Electronic Mail, basic word processing and/or other devices/media, which may be installed or used from time to time, is expected to be maintained at a proficient level of expertise.

Assess shift personnel and equipment needs. Make recommendation relative to these needs ensuring personnel and HFHS needs are met.

Monitor and assess morale, resolving problem situations whenever possible. Keeps their site Manager and the Director of Security informed of any potential problems while providing possible solutions.

Maintains an account of hospital property, which has been assigned to department personnel. Conducts or causes to be conducted, routine periodical checks of said equipment (updates equipment logs at least quarterly). Daily assigned property will be inventoried at the beginning and the end of each shift to ensure said property is accounted for.

Evaluate, coach, and counsel personnel on their job performance providing supporting documentation. Ensures departmental and HFHS standards are maintained.

When necessary, or when placed in particular situations, performs the duties of Security/Security Police Officer by providing quality customer service as well as an environment relatively free of crime.

Responsible for compiling data and forming an annual shift budget, overseeing it for compliance. Helps to develop and implement departmental goals.

Performs a variety of Security related in-service presentations for non-security departments throughout the health system.

Completes all other duties and projects as assigned by the director of Security.
