GENERAL SUMMARY:

Under minimal supervision of the CNO and Helios Director, provides leadership and clinical expertise to develop and enhance consistent documentation in the electronic health record by nursing and allied health professionals. Leads projects to update/upgrade the clinical documentation content. Acts as system expert for Health Education application. Leads the EMR Business Continuity Access (BCA) team. Working with application teams and business operations assures that BCA devices and content are kept current and functioning. Participates in downtime and disaster recovery planning representing Helios. Participates in additional Projects, Enhancements and Maintenance work, generally falling under the Epic Clinical Documentation Manager's direction. 

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Works independently to manage implementation and adoption of plan of care philosophy and Epic’s Clinical Practice Model (CPM) content. 

    Maintains a high level of responsibility for completion of CPM-related projects. 

     

    Serves as program manager for all upgrades to CPM content, including:

    • Developing and refining project scope, objectives, and work plan
    • Recommending and providing input for budget preparation
    • Guiding day-to-day activities of the project team
    • Facilitating and/or leading meetings and teams

       

    • Supplying periodic project updates to leaders

       

  • Develops and determines priorities and monitors status of projects on an ongoing basis. 
  • Exercises independent judgment and makes difficult decisions.
  • Works with all levels of the Hospital, Region, and System. Fosters teamwork with all involved parties to insure efficient project operations.
  • Serves as content expert related to CPM for Helios teams and works with Helios teams utilizing CPM content to assist with creating and maintaining current documentation for nursing and allied health disciplines, including flowsheets, care planning tools, and patient education documentation.
  • Develops and maintain relationships with groups/advisory councils serving as subject matter experts including interdisciplinary councils, advisory and practice councils, and site coordinators throughout the system. Attends and participates in various system councils, committees, workgroups providing inpatient documentation workflow and clinical expertise (i.e., Nurse Advisory Council, Nursing System 
    Practice Council, and My Chart Advisory Council).
  • Serves as HFHS link to CPM and CPM’s Epic liaison for bi-directional communication regarding content or functionality questions and changes, upgrades to content, communication of webinars and learning opportunities, and participation in CPM Consortium webinars. Disseminate pertinent updates, requests for input, and information about webinars and learning opportunities to appropriate persons/groups within HFHS for action.
  • With system experts, creates education programs, in-services, tip sheets and other learning materials for distribution to appropriate end users about content/content changes, workflow/workflow changes, and updates. Works with educators throughout the system to assist with developing education about CPM content and care plans for orientation; work with credentialed trainers, super users and site coordinators providing the necessary guidance for their ongoing, continued training for end users.
  • Performs periodic random audits of care plan and patient education documentation, communicating findings to appropriate practice councils, education councils, and other facility-based bodies for dissemination of feedback to end users on compliance to documentation workflow. Provide training/expertise to nursing and allied health leadership on audit process and documentation points. 
  • Acts as HFHS content expert and liaison with Healthwise for education requests, upgrade information, and questions regarding content. 
  • Assists at Epic update go-lives for end user support.
  • Leads Helios Business Continuity Access (BCA) team, including but not limited to the below activities:
    • Oversee the creation and execution of HFH business continuity plans for Epic.
    • Work directly with Corporate IT department and PMO team to conduct regular risk assessments.
    • Coordinate the BIA process to determine the critical business functions and the potential impact of disruptions.
    • Work closely with various departments, including IT, Emergency preparedness, and Operations, to integrate business continuity strategies across the system.
    • Continuously review and improve business continuity plans based on lessons learned from drills, incidents, and industry best practices.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor's Degree. Master's Degree, preferred.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of relevant clinical experience/direct patient care in Nursing, Pharmacy, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Respiratory Therapy or Social Work.
  • Two (2) years of experience in training/educating clinicians or students. Significant project experience, outstanding communication skills, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to apply innovative solutions to problems.
