General Summary
The Site Security Manager is the dedicated leader responsible for the comprehensive safety and security strategy across assigned Henry Ford Health locations. You will direct and coordinate all security personnel, ensuring a secure environment for our patients, visitors, and staff. This role owns the development and maintenance of the department budget, policies, and goals, and serves as the critical technical liaison to staff and external law enforcement/public service agencies.
Core Responsibilities
This role requires operational excellence, strategic planning, and hands-on leadership:
Leadership & Operations
- Plan, direct, and coordinate all Security Services personnel and activities to ensure hospital-wide safety and security.
- Oversee work schedules for security personnel to maintain efficient department operations and uninterrupted service.
- Manage team morale and proactively resolve problem situations among supervisors and officers.
- Lead the full talent lifecycle: Interviewing, hiring, establishing performance standards, and evaluating/counseling shift leadership on job performance.
- Ensure quality of work by developing and implementing methods to improve department efficiency and effectiveness.
Strategy, Compliance, and Risk Management
- Develop and administer short/long-range department plans and policies consistent with professional standards.
- Ensure rigorous compliance with all local, state, federal statutes, and accrediting agency regulations.
- Serve as the security expert: Identifying, communicating, and providing education related to risks that could impact the organization.
- Administer crisis resolution and frequently handle emergencies to maintain a safe environment for all customers and staff.
- Act as an active member of the Hospital Safety and Disaster committees.
Administration & Stakeholder Engagement
- Develop, implement, and administer the department budget, monitoring adherence and initiating corrective action.
- Maintain highly effective communication and partnership with managers, patients, visitors, and physicians regarding security risks.
- Oversee, maintain, and audit various records, databases, and security systems to ensure data accuracy and completeness.
- Prepare and oversee recurring special reports and statistical analyses.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Associate's Degree in Security Administration, Criminal Justice, or related fields.
- Five to seven (5-7) years of progressively more responsible experience in security operations, including a minimum of 3-5 years security supervisor experience.
- Seven to ten (7-10) years preferred.
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED: Must qualify for any state required licensing.
