General Summary 

We are seeking a Permanent Contingent Registered Nurse to provide medical coverage at the Fermi Nuclear Power Plant. This role is scheduled for 16 hours per month, with the potential for additional shifts to cover RN vacations, sick days, plant outages, and employee physical exams.

This position requires someone who is comfortable working independently in a high-stakes environment and able to maintain calm, clear judgment under pressure. You will be expected to communicate effectively with plant personnel, provide rapid emergency response, and uphold all NRC federal documentation standards.

Note: This assignment is located at a Nuclear Power Plant and may involve potential exposure to radiation.

Qualifications

Licensure & Certifications:

  • RN degree from an accredited School of Nursing

  • Current BCLS certification (BLS for Healthcare Providers)

  • ACLS and TNCC certifications preferred

  • ABOHN certification (COHN, COHN-S, COHN-S/CM), CAOHC Audiometric certification, Respiratory Fit, and Breath Alcohol Technician (BAT) certifications preferred

Experience:

  • Minimum of 12 months accumulated RN experience within the last 5 years

  • Military background OR at least 3 years of full-time experience in Emergency Department, ICU, or RRT—preferably in a Level 1 Trauma Center

  • Prior occupational health experience preferred

  • Completion of core competencies in Occupational Health Nursing Services preferred

Skills & Traits:

  • Detail-oriented, highly conscientious, and intuitive

  • Strong background in emergency medical response and leadership

  • Demonstrates high integrity, reliability, and accountability

  • Capable of meeting strict documentation standards per NRC federal guidelines

  • Proficient in basic computer systems (Windows, Microsoft Word & Office)

Other Requirements:

  • Successful completion of a full background check (psychological screening may be required)

  • Completion of annual FERMI site training and Henry Ford mandatory education

  • Willingness to travel within 30 minutes of Detroit preferred
