We are seeking a Nurse Manager - Research to be an integral leader in expanding clinical trial access and improving outcomes for lung cancer patients across the Henry Ford Health System.

 

About the Lung Cancer Research Program:

The Lung Cancer Research Program is a collaborative, interdisciplinary effort focused on improving clinical trial infrastructure and accessibility for patients diagnosed with lung cancer. Our team includes oncologists, researchers, and healthcare administrators working together to:

  • Expand clinical trial capacity across Henry Ford’s main campus and satellite sites.
  • Increase patient enrollment in a robust portfolio of trials including:
    • Investigator-Initiated Trials
    • Industry-Sponsored Trials
    • Cooperative Group Therapeutic Trials
    • Biomarker Studies
    • Patient Reported Outcome Trials
    • Lung Cancer Biobank Research
  • Advancing regulatory workflows and conducting community outreach and education to improve trial engagement and equity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead trial operations across main and satellite locations
  • Supervise and mentor clinical trial staff
  • Collaborate with pharmacy and oncology teams for compliant trial conduct
  • Standardize workflows and ensure regulatory adherence
  • Engage with industry sponsors and investigators to grow the clinical trial portfolio
  • Support patient-centered care through advocacy and education

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Under the leadership of a Vice President, Director, Group Practice Director and/or Physician Leadership, the individual in this position focuses on activities associated with clinical research operations. Provides clinical leadership and works in partnership with nursing, the health care team, and leadership to assure quality patient care provided in accordance with departmental, Henry Ford Medical Group and health system policies and procedures. Facilitates implementation of innovative patient care delivery models and a collaborative, multidisciplinary, team-approach in the continuous improvement of patient care services. May represent the Department, Specialty, and/or Business Unit on various internal and external committees and within the community. This position will focus approximately 80% on daily operations and 20% strategy. 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor's or higher-level degree in Nursing or a health care-related field required.
  • Master's Degree in Nursing, Business Administration, Health Care Administration, or equivalent preferred. Two (2) years of experience leading a project or team.
  • Research experience and leadership experience preferred. 
  • Five (5) years of clinical nursing experience.
  • Skilled in organizational attributes.
  • Ability to communicate in writing and orally to support, direct, and work with employees, leadership, physicians, and various external audiences.
  • Computer skills including word processing and spreadsheets knowledge. 

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED:

  • Current license to practice in the State of Michigan as a Registered Nurse.
  • Successful completion of Henry Ford Medical Group Pharmacology test. 
  • Current BLS required.
