RN- Manager-Research: Cancer Clinical and Translational Research Office
General Summary:
- Under the leadership of a Vice President, Director, Group Practice Director and/or Physician Leadership, the individual in this position focuses on activities associated with clinical research operations.
- Provides clinical leadership and works in partnership with nursing, the health care team, and leadership to assure quality patient care provided in accordance with departmental, Henry Ford Medical Group and health system policies and procedures.
- Facilitates implementation of innovative patient care delivery models and a collaborative, multidisciplinary, team-approach in the continuous improvement of patient care services.
- May represent the Department, Specialty, and/or Business Unit on various internal and external committees and within the community.
- This position will focus approximately 80% on daily operations and 20% strategy.
- The Nursing Manager is a Registered Nurse who is accountable for leading, managing, developing, supervising and evaluating the delivery of patient care at multiple sites or departments and/or has a minimum of one supervisor and/or 20 or more employees, in the Ambulatory Department.
- Provides clinic leadership and works in partnership with nursing, the health care team and leadership to assure quality patient care.
- Care is provided in accordance with departmental, Henry Ford Medical Group and health system policies and procedures.
- Facilitates empowerment of staff in the implementation of creative and innovative patient care delivery models and stimulates a collaborative multidisciplinary team approach in the continuous improvement of patient care services.
- In conjunction with the Administrator, assumes responsibility for fiscal management of clinic/department.
- Provides leadership, education and mentoring for staff.
- Responsible for insuring that proper personnel procedures are followed in terms of interviewing, evaluating, orienting and training new staff.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or related field required.
- Master's Degree in Nursing, Business Administration, Health Care Administration, or equivalent preferred.
- Two (2) years of experience leading a project or team.
- Research experience and leadership experience preferred.
- Five (5) years of clinical nursing experience.
- Skilled in organizational attributes.
- Ability to communicate in writing and orally to support, direct, and work with employees, leadership, physicians, and various external audiences.
- Computer skills including word processing and spreadsheets knowledge.
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES
- Current license to practice in the State of Michigan as a Registered Nurse.
- Current BLS/ACLS required.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Works in a patient care setting with possible exposure to communicable diseases.
- May require heavy lifting of patients and/or equipment.
