GENERAL SUMMARY:

Works collaboratively with the clinical faculty, administrative team and support staff to ensure each patient receives the best possible care, and the office achieves productivity and performance goals

 

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  •  Assume primary responsibility for the care and follow up of patients.

  • Become proficient in the fitting of contact lenses for straightforward cases, as well as challenging cases that may require specialty contact lenses.

  •  Develop competency in the detection, diagnosis, and management of ocular disease as well as in the ocular and visual system manifestations of systemic disease.

  • Provide care to a sufficient number of primary care patients to enhance clinical decision-making skills 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Requires graduation from a certified school of optometry.

  • Must be eligible for licensure as an Optometrist in the state of Michigan.

  • Must be eligible for Therapeutic Pharmaceutical Agent (T.P.A.) and Diagnostic Pharmaceutical Agent (D.P.A.) certification.

  • Must participate in the educational experience of externs and clinical research.

  • Must be able to work rotating days and shifts, including evening and weekend hours

  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.

 

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED:

None

  • Must meet or exceed core customer service responsibilities, standards and behaviors as outlined in the HFHS’ Customer Service Policy

  • Must practice the customer skills as provided through on-going training and in-services.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS:

Works in a professional and retail environment providing comprehensive eye care and optical services.  Requires evening and weekend hours.
