Henry Ford Innovation  Marketing & Social Media Intern – Summer 2026 (Paid)

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Category: Internship (On-Site)

Hours: 24/week

Unit: Henry Ford Innovations (HFI)

About Us Henry Ford Innovations (HFI) is the innovation engine of Henry Ford Health, turning clinician ideas into real-world healthcare solutions. We commercialize inventions, partner with startups and venture funds, and drive digital health, AI, medical device, and care-delivery innovation. With a freshly awarded MEDC grant and the new Henry Ford-MSU Innovation Fund, we’re accelerating economic development and community impact across Michigan—and we need your help to tell that story.

The Role We’re looking for a creative, proactive Marketing & Social Media Intern to own our day-to-day social presence while playing a key part in outreach. A big piece of this internship will be helping HFI actively promote the MEDC grant opportunities and the Henry Ford + MSU Innovation Fund to healthcare startups in Michigan and across the country—driving applications, building buzz, and connecting founders with funding and resources that can change patient lives. You’ll also amplify inventor spotlights, grant milestones, new partnerships, and HFI events through engaging content and targeted campaigns.

Key Responsibilities

·       Manage and grow our current LinkedIn presence (posts, stories, engagement)

·       Research, test, and recommend additional platforms (e.g., Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Reddit, Substack, niche communities, etc.) that could effectively reach healthcare startups and innovators—complete with data-backed rationale on what’s worth our time

·       Identify and engage in relevant online communities to promote funding opportunities

·       Create targeted content and outreach campaigns that drive applications to the MEDC grant and Henry Ford + MSU Innovation Fund

·       Design quick-turn graphics, reels, carousels, and short videos (Canva, Adobe Express, CapCut, etc.)

·       Track analytics across all experiments and deliver clear recommendations on where HFI should focus long-term

·       Support MEDC grant marketing deliverables (report visuals, announcements, event promotion)

·       Draft newsletter copy, website updates, and occasional press releases

·       Capture lightweight photo/video at Detroit events or lab tours

What You’ll Gain

  • Portfolio pieces directly tied to one of Michigan’s top healthcare innovation programs
  • Experience in grant-related marketing and storytelling for a mission-driven organization
  • Direct mentorship from HFI leadership and exposure to inventors, startups, and venture partners
  • Networking across Henry Ford Health and potential pathway to future opportunities

Ideal Candidate

  • Current undergraduate or recent grad in Marketing, Communications, Digital Media, Graphic Design, Business, or related field
  • Proven social media experience (class projects, personal brand, or previous internships all count)
  • Able to quickly create polished, on-brand graphics, carousels, and short social videos using accessible design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Express, or similar) – comfort and speed with Canva strongly preferred; bonus for experience with Adobe Creative Cloud or video editing apps (CapCut, Premiere, iMovie, etc.)
  • Strong writer with an eye for clean, professional design
  • Self-starter who loves healthcare, innovation, or economic development in Michigan
  • Available for 2-3 in-person days in Detroit (Mon-Wed)

To Apply Email your resume, a quick note on why you’re excited to tell HFI’s story, and 2–3 examples of social content you’ve created. We review applications on a rolling basis—early applications encouraged!
