 Contingent Option 1: Unit-based contingent that reports directly to the Unit Manager/Unit Director. Meets all accountabilities of a Registered Nurse. (Refer to Job Description, Registered Nurse, F02426).

Provides leadership in the coordination and delivery of quality compassionate patient care. Utilizes the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation, to provide, delegate, supervise and document care and teaching of patients and family. Effectively communicates pertinent patient/family information to health care team. Participates in finding solutions for variances from patient goals and ensures implementation of solutions. 

 

2 Years cardiac related experience (required);

ACLS (required),

BLS (required),

Strong customer relation skills, strong communication skills, ability to work in stressful situations, ability to travel to other off-site locations.

The RNs function in the TEE area (supporting the CRNA’s during anesthesia and TEE procedure) following the procedure they recover the patient.

During the Dobutamine and Exercise Stress labs, they work with the Sonographer to chemically or physically stress the patient to reach the targeted heart rate and recover the patient following the procedure.

During the Nuclear Medicine Stress test, the RN will also stress the patient to the targeted heart rate either physically or chemically.

The RNs also support the Sonographers on K-14 by assisting with administering image enhancing agents on K 14 and on the inpatient units and start IVs for the Sonographers, If the  K 14 patient becomes unstable, they stay with the patient and take them to ER for further treatment.

They also assist in ordering supplies/medications for the satellites.

They also triage patients for all stress tests and inpatient TEEs.

Ideally candidates should have good communication skills (they will need to communicate frequently with either the Cardiology Attending or Cardiology Fellow, inpatient RNs and Sonographers)

Good assessment skills (will triage patients using the Non-Invasive protocols to determine if the patient is able to come for the test. Will also triage for lab values, medication use, physical ability to get on/off the tread mill, tolerate Cardiac medications, etc.)

Able to start IV’s and be able to work with patients that have experienced a change in status during/post procedure.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Previous 1-2 years recent related clinical nursing experience and a demonstrated level of performance and practice required.

BSN preferred.

Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.

Clinical knowledge and analytical abilities necessary to formulate effective nursing care plans.

Ability to perform a wide variety of professional nursing services.

Ability to effectively communicate with patients, families, and hospital personnel.

 

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED:

Current licensure by the Michigan State Board of Nursing.
