GENERAL SUMMARY:
Location: Detroit
Schedule: Full Time, Days
This role will report to the Pharmacy Manager, Centralized Sterile Compounding location at the Henry Ford Centralized Pharmacy Services Center in Detroit, MI. The position will support sterile compounding operations across the HFH enterprise to ensure safe, compliant, and high-quality compounding practices, including the compounding of batch sterile compounded products and total parenteral nutrition solutions. The preferred candidate must have demonstrated experience with sterile compounding workflows and practices.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepares compounded sterile products using aseptic technique
- Assists in the setup of the compounding room, equipment, and supplies
- Performs routine clean room environmental cleaning and documents per policy
- Prepares patient specific (TPN, IV chemotherapy) and batch sterile compounds
- Use of and general maintenance of sterile compounding automation
- Performs final Compounded Sterile Products (CSP) labeling and storage
- Completes all required documentation for patient-specific and anticipatory batch sterile compounded products
- Collaborates with pharmacy staff to maintain accurate medication and supply inventory
- Respond and triage telephone and electronic message inquiries
- Receive orders and prepare and package medications for delivery

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Requires high school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in sterile compounding in an acute care, health system, home health, infusion center, or 503a/b setting
Total parenteral nutrition (TPN), automated IV compounding devices, and EPIC experience preferred.
- Requires at least two (2) years of experience as an inpatient pharmacy technician (for inpatient setting) OR two (2) years of experience as a pharmacy technician for all others.
- Two (2) years of experience with automated pharmacy dispensing systems preferred.
- PC skills as needed to perform job functions as assigned.
- Strong verbal/written skills; availability for on-call system support; highly analytical ability to solve complex technical problems.
- Ability to work designated shifts, including weekends and holidays.
- Ability to function in a fast-paced environment with established time constraints.
- Flexibility to deal with ever-changing health care environment.
Ability to effectively manage multiple projects.
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED:
- Valid State of MI pharmacy technician licensure required.
