Pharmacy Technician - Ambulatory - Full Time - Troy/Detroit

GENERAL SUMMARY:
Eligible for a $2,500 sign on bonus
Location: Troy/ Detroit, MI
Under the supervision of a registered pharmacist, assists in the distribution and processing of prescriptions and the sale of over-the-counter medications enters prescription data into computer. Performs billings and file maintenance. Receives payments for prescriptions and other purchases. Assists in the stocking and storage of inventory. Interacts and communicates with the public. Reports to pharmacists.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepares and prepackages medication for subsequent administration to patients under the supervision of pharmacists.
- Enters prescription information and processes prescriptions in the computer.
- Assists in the orientation and training of new staff.
- Obtains all personal and insurance information from new customers and enters it into the computer.
- Takes prescription refill orders over the phone from customers
- Collects monies owed for prescription retails sales or OTC sales.
- Straightens and inventories all over the counter medications and sundry items.
- Maintains appropriate records of medication dispensed.
- Helps in the reprocessing of rejected prescriptions.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent required.
- Minimum of six (6) months of retail pharmacy experience preferred.
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED:
- Requires valid State of Michigan Pharmacy Technician license.
