This position is a Medication History Advocate who takes medication histories from patient on admit.

Schedule:This is a part-time position with rotating hours. Shifts could be 9:00 AM - 5:30 PM, 12:00 PM to 8:30 PM, or 3:30 pm to 12:00 AM.

GENERAL SUMMARY: 

Provide distributive pharmacy services and technical support for the Pharmacist. Perform activities or tasks in specialty pharmacy services.

  • Perform specialized duties such as hazardous drug compounding, medication history, nuclear, and Patient Assistance Program (PAP) as a pharmacy technician.
  • Refill and maintain automated dispensing system. Prepare orders, maintain inventory, and repackage bulk medications. Receive and store incoming supplies.
  • Serve as a liaison between pharmacy, patient and health professionals by providing necessary information. Communicate with external resources such as retail pharmacies, provider officers, and data exchanges.
  • Identify and assist with patient medication access including, benefit investigation, prior authorization, and financial assistance.
  • Assist Pharmacist in preparation of patient education materials.
  • May give immunizations in accordance with state laws.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED: 

  • One or more of the following:
    • Pharmacy Tech credentialed from the Michigan Board of Pharmacy obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
    • Pharmacy Tech credentialed from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
    • Pharmacy Tech credentialed from the National Healthcareer Association obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
