GENERAL SUMMARY:

Location: Moross Detroit

Shift: Monday - Friday. Hours may vary based on pharmacy needs for special projects or urgent situations

Manage the daily operations of the central pharmacy including medication compounding, distribution, storage and disposal . Manage the recruitment, retention, training and competency of operations team members. Develop and implement performance improvement activities to include medication safety, operational workflow, optimization of technology and inventory management.  Participate in education and training of pharmacy technicians-in training, pharmacy residents and pharmacy students. Develop and manage departmental budget, as well as operational and productivity metrics. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and Board of Pharmacy rules and regulations. Also lead and serve on various local and health system committees.

In Detroit, MI, Henry Ford St. John Hospital is a full-service hospital with 24/7 emergency care and a Level I Trauma Center. Henry Ford St. John Hospital is a destination for specialty care including heart, cancer, stroke care, and orthopedics. Our OB-GYN maternity care teams deliver a personalized birthing experience and advanced neonatal care for sick babies. We offer a range of procedures using robotic-assisted technology, imaging and lab tests, a dedicated inpatient rehabilitation center, all on one campus.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor's degree in pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy required.
  • 3 years of hospital experience required.
  • 1 year of leadership or management experience required.
  • Advanced degree or Master's degree preferred.
  • PGY1 Residency training or equivalent experience preferred.
  • 2-3 years of leadership experience preferred.
  • Advanced experience in sterile compounding and IV workflow

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED:

  • Pharmacist credentialed from the Michigan Board of Pharmacy obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.   
  • Board certification in Sterile Compounding preferred
