GENERAL SUMMARY: 

Location: Detroit

Schedule: Full Time 40 hours - Rotating Shifts

The Supervisor – Pharmacy Automation Systems, Centralized Compliance Packaging reports to the Manager or Director of Centralized Compliance Packaging with oversight of technician operations and pharmacy automation systems. This role is responsible for technician training, scheduling, performance management, and optimization of automation‑related hardware and software workflows. The Supervisor ensures technicians are cross‑trained, meet defined KPIs, and rotate effectively across all production and automation stations. This position promotes operational efficiency, system reliability, and continuous workflow improvement within centralized compliance packaging operations.

PRINCPLE DUTIES & RESPONSBILITIES:

  • Provide direct supervision, training, and support to pharmacy technician specialists and technicians, ensuring competency across all automation, production, and support stations

  • Maintain and manage technician schedules and rotation plans to support coverage, cross‑training, redundancy, and compliance with operational needs

  • Monitor technician performance metrics and KPIs, provide feedback and coaching, and support corrective action or development plans as needed

  • Serve as a primary resource for compliance packaging automation hardware and software issues, troubleshooting workflows and communicating system needs and performance concerns

  • Lead daily technician huddles and operational check‑ins to promote safety, productivity, standardized workflows, and performance metric awareness

  • Coordinate with automation vendors and internal stakeholders to support system functionality, efficiency, maintenance, and continuous improvement

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Materials Management, Health Administration, Accounting, or related field, or the equivalent in work experience, with minimum of three (3) years of experience involving medication procurement, pharmacy sourcing and medication inventory management in a health care setting required.
  • Pharmacy technician experience for at least five (5) years required.
  • At least five (5) years of experience with various pharmacy dispensing systems, inventory management, and other automation supporting pharmacy operations required, with particular preference to experience using BD Pyxis, ARxIUM Carousels, and RxWorks.
  • Strong computer skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office products required. Knowledge and/or understanding of 340b preferred.
  • Must demonstrate leadership ability in working with and coordinating activities of others in developing improved operational services.
  • Exemplary oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to lead work groups effectively.
  • Must demonstrate knowledge of managed care and progressive pharmacy practice. Time management, team building, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Must have a previous work history of reliability, dependability, and a willingness to assume additional responsibility.
  • A demonstrated knowledge of Henry Ford Health business practices and a competency in a specialized area of procurement.
  • Must possess the personality and ability to work with a wide variety of people under sometimes stressful situations.
  • Must be motivated to provide high quality patient care. 

     

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED: 

  • Current State of Michigan pharmacy technician licensure required.
