Michigan Spine and Brain Surgeons is one of the leading neurosurgical and orthopedic spine practices in Michigan, recognized for surgical volume, patient outcomes, and clinical research. Our team includes six board-certified neurosurgeons and orthopedic spine surgeons, supported by more than 60 staff members across four office locations.

General Summary
The Patient Care Representative works in a customer service capacity, providing administrative and clerical support to patients, physicians, and staff within a fast-paced medical office environment. This role serves as an important liaison between patients and providers, helping ensure smooth office operations and an outstanding patient experience.
Responsibilities
- Greet patients and visitors in a professional and welcoming manner
- Check patients in and out while obtaining required documentation
- Verify and accurately enter demographic and insurance information
- Schedule, confirm, and coordinate patient appointments
- Obtain insurance authorizations and precertifications for imaging and services
- Complete medical record release requests
- Record, route, and return messages for physicians and clinical staff
- Enter, review, and submit charges for procedures and services daily
- Collect co-payments and reconcile daily reports and deposits for accuracy
- Maintain patient records within electronic health record (EHR) systems
- Provide general administrative and clerical support to assigned departments
- Travel to additional office locations as needed for coverage and support
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Basic computer proficiency and data entry skills
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Professional demeanor with excellent attendance and reliability
Preferred
- Previous medical office or healthcare experience
- Prior experience scheduling appointments and obtaining authorizations
- Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems
- Experience with eClinicalWorks preferred
- Familiarity with Windows operating system
- Typing proficiency of 70+ WPM preferred
- Friendly, professional, and outgoing phone etiquette
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate clearly and concisely
