Position Summary
The Patient Access Liaison for Neurosurgery plays a critical role in ensuring seamless patient access and scheduling across all sites of practice. This position serves as the centralized owner of the neurosurgery master schedule templates, with sole responsibility for schedule changes and ongoing maintenance. Under general supervision, the Patient Access Liaison proactively manages, monitors, and reports on outpatient clinic availability, ensuring standardized and consistent scheduling practices throughout the service line.
This role collaborates closely with Contact Center teams, RPO, providers, and clinical staff while remaining highly responsive to patient and referring physician scheduling needs.
Key Responsibilities
Own and manage the neurosurgery product line master schedule templates, including all provider and clinic resource schedules
Maintain consistent and standardized scheduling practices, protocols, and procedures across all sites of practice
Serve as the centralized scheduling and access resource for patients, referring physicians, and internal teams
Proactively manage and report on outpatient clinic availability for all scheduled neurosurgery resources
Collaborate with Contact Center, RPO, and other scheduling areas to ensure efficient patient access
Ensure accuracy and consistency of departmental provider templates and master schedules across the service line
Follow up on required medical clearances to ensure completion prior to scheduled surgeries
Assist with scheduling peer-to-peer reviews and sending/following up on appeal-related faxes
Support central authorization teams by gathering and providing required information as needed
Assist with surgical scheduling processes, including familiarity with surgical boards (preferred)
Provide exceptional customer service while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Education & Experience Required
High School Diploma or G.E.D. required
Associate’s degree or two (2) or more years of college preferred
Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a business office or healthcare environment
Prior experience with appointment scheduling and schedule maintenance required
Analytical experience preparing and managing physician schedules preferred
Strong computer skills in a patient scheduling environment
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications required
Preferred Qualifications
EPIC experience strongly preferred
Knowledge of neurosurgery workflows (preferred, not required)
Experience supporting surgical scheduling and authorization processes
Familiarity with surgical boards is a plus
Strong multitasking abilities with excellent attention to detail
Team-oriented mindset with strong communication and follow-up skills
