Location: Henry Ford Detroit and Henry Ford Lakeside

Status: Full-Time | Days

Schedule: 40hrs per week

Position Overview:

Henry Ford Health System is seeking a full-time Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join the Neurology team within the Vascular/Stroke Division. This clinic-based APP will primarily manage ischemic stroke and TIA patients following hospitalization, providing comprehensive post-stroke follow-up care. Responsibilities include obtaining patient histories, performing physical examinations, ordering and interpreting diagnostic studies, formulating diagnoses, and developing evidence-based treatment and secondary prevention plans. As experience and comfort grow, the APP may also support neuro endovascular follow-up visits. The provider will collaborate closely with neurologists, stroke specialists, nursing staff, and the interdisciplinary care team to ensure high-quality, coordinated, and patient-centered outcomes. This position will support outpatient services across Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit and Henry Ford Lakeside Medical Center.

Qualifications:

 

  • NP or PA graduate from an accredited program
  • Current Michigan licensure
  • APP with stoke experience preferred
  • Neuroscience experience
  • National certification (ANCC, AANP, or NCCPA)
  • BLS required; ACLS required (or obtained after hire)

 

 

Credentials:

 

Education & Training

·         Physician Assistant (PA): Completion of a Physician Assistant program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA)

·         Nurse Practitioner (NP): Completion of a Nurse Practitioner program accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) or the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC)

 

Licensure

·         Current licensure as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner, in the State of Michigan, or in the process of applying (proof of application required).

 

Certification

·         PA: Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)

·         NP: National certification by a certification body recognized by the State of Michigan

(e.g., ANCC, AANP)

 

 

Required Certifications

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) – required
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) – required (may be obtained after hire)

DEA / Controlled Substance Licensure

  • PA: DEA and Michigan Controlled Substance License (CSL) required through credentialing
  • NP: DEA registration required through credentialing; NPs do not hold a Michigan CSL and will use their Michigan license number during the application process
