Nurse Manager -System Command Center - Full Time - 40 Hours - Days
GENERAL SUMMARY: The System Capacity Command Center (SC3) at Henry Ford Health is the hub for inpatient operations related to system capacity operations across all hospitals and freestanding Emergency Departments (ED). The Nurse Manager-System Capacity Command Center manages departmental operations in assigned area of Access Management, Bed Management, or Transfer Management. Responsible for managing and supporting the staffing operations of assigned team and supporting the other managers in the center to deliver exceptional service to our patients and clinicians, while facilitating superior transfer activity, patient flow, and safety priorities across all hospitals and freestanding EDs.
Access Management
The Nurse Manager maintains and improves the safety and efficiency of patient access process with patients being admitted from any of our hospital-based or freestanding EDs, using clinical expertise, leadership, situational and organizational awareness, and critical thinking skills.
Bed Management
The Nurse Manager maintains and improves the safety and efficiency of the bed placement process with patients coming from various portals of entry (ED, PostAnesthesia Care Units (PACU), clinic/home or outside hospitals) to inpatient or observation areas, using clinical expertise, leadership, situational and organizational awareness, and critical thinking skills.
Transfer Management
The Nurse Manager maintains and improves the safety and efficiency of patient transfer process with patients transferring into, out of and between our hospitals to the ED, procedural areas, or inpatient units, using clinical expertise, leadership, situational and organizational awareness, and critical thinking skills.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
• Bachelor’s degree in nursing. Master’s degree in nursing, business or healthcare administration preferred.
• Three (3) years of experience in capacity management (bed planning, access nursing, transfer center).
• Two (2) years of bedside or emergency department experience.
• Prior bed management leadership experience preferred.
• Demonstrated successful leadership, ability to integrate Henry Ford Health services, departments, and segments, administer and manage change.
• Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines and produce detailed and accurate work.
• Demonstrated positive work ethic and strong sense of teamwork/problem solving with co-workers.
• Ability to assess and handle highly sensitive and confidential matters with considerable discretion and independent judgement.
• Knowledge of quality management and service excellence.
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED:
Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Michigan
