Medical Transcriptionist
- High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
- Minimum of five (5) years of transcription experience in an acute-care hospital setting.
- Ability to edit a minimum of 900 lines per day.
- Advanced knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, disease processes, signs and symptoms, medication, and laboratory values.
- In-depth knowledge of medical transcription guidelines and practices.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, including grammar, punctuation, and style, in order to provide quality feedback to the transcriptionists.
- Ability to understand diverse accents, dialects and varying dictation styles.
- Must possess acute auditory and acoustical sensitivity in coordination with keen hand/eye coordination, and have the ability to decipher difficult to comprehend dictators with accuracy.
- Must be proficient in referencing and researching.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to operate a computer, multiple software applications, transcription equipment, and other office equipment necessary, including word processing software.
- Demonstrate good organizational skills, including planning, time management, and multitasking. Previous quality assurance experience desirable.
- Experience with an EMR (EPIC experience desired), preferred.
- Experience with auditing software/transcription software, preferred.
- Experience with use of Internet Explorer to access medical on-line reference materials, preferred.
