Medical Support Assistant

Overview

Join our orthopedic team and play an important role in delivering exceptional patient care in a fast-paced ambulatory setting. As a Medical Support Assistant, you will provide administrative and/or clinical support to physicians and care teams, helping ensure an efficient, compassionate experience for every patient.

Opportunities are available in both front office and back office functions, supporting patients throughout their visit.

What You'll Do

Depending on your assigned role, responsibilities may include:

Front Office

  • Welcome and check in patients while providing outstanding customer service.
  • Schedule appointments and manage provider calendars.
  • Verify patient demographics and insurance information.
  • Answer incoming phone calls and assist with patient inquiries.
  • Complete registration, referrals, and other administrative tasks.

Back Office

  • Escort patients to exam rooms and prepare them for their visit.
  • Obtain and document medical histories, vital signs, and other clinical information.
  • Prepare patients for examinations and procedures.
  • Assist providers during examinations and treatments.
  • Maintain accurate documentation within the electronic medical record.
  • Clean, stock, and prepare exam rooms and clinical supplies.

 

Schedule & Location

  • Full-time, day shift
  • No weekends or holidays
  • Rotating start times based on patient volume: 7:30 AM, 7:45 AM, 8:00 AM, 8:15 AM, or 8:30 AM
  • Primary work locations include Farmington Hills and Novi
  • Occasional travel to Dearborn and Ferndale may be required

 

Qualifications

Front Office Medical Support Assistant

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
  • One (1) year of medical office, customer service, or related experience preferred.
  • Basic computer and keyboarding skills.
  • Strong communication, organization, and customer service skills.

Certification

  • Current BLS certification upon hire or successful completion by the end of orientation.

 

Back Office Medical Support Assistant

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
  • Successful completion of a Medical Assistant training program required.
  • Previous ambulatory or physician office experience preferred.
  • Ability to perform a variety of clinical skills in an outpatient setting.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.

Certification

  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required upon hire or successful completion by the end of orientation.
