GENERAL SUMMARY:

Assists the Medical Review Officer(s) (MRO), and/or other designated representative of an external corporate client of the Occupational Health department in administering and coordinating the Medical Review program. Ensures compliance with legal and regulatory requirements and with established procedures and guidelines. Organizes the daily flow of mandated forms and documents. Prepares Drug and Alcohol presentation materials to educate a variety of audiences.


PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assists in the coordination of pre-employment drug and alcohol testing for all candidates on an on-going basis.

  • Assists with organizing and preparing materials required for meeting local, state and federal regulatory compliance.

  • Assigns work to external Collection vendors as directed. Maintain records in accordance with federal record retention requirements. Reviews chain of custody documentation and matches the documentation to ensure the positive identity of drug test results.

  • Ensures that adequate supplies are available for external medical centers and Collectors. Responsible for the ordering and maintenance of drug and alcohol testing supplies for distribution as needed.

  • Performs data entry of drug screen results into designated software.

  • Responsible for updating/generating patient and departmental forms.

  • Responsible for the coordination of special projects as assigned by Coordinator, Medical Review Officer and Designated Employer Representative.

  • Prepares monthly and year-end drug and alcohol testing results for corporate clients. Prepares monthly selections reports and ensures collections have been completed.

  • Maintains and submits the Federal Management Information System data report for each corporate client as indicated. 

  • Conducts presentations as required on the rules and procedures specific to drug and alcohol testing. Describes to clients the procedures for urine specimen collections. Recognizes signs of specimen adulteration.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Requires a high school diploma or GED. Post high school education in Business, Health Care Administration, or related field preferred.

  • Requires a minimum of one year of previous business or public contact experience to include office procedures, customer service emphasis, scheduling, registration, or medical clinic reception.

  • Requires certification as a Medical Review Officer Assistant according to federal Department of Transportation guidelines, or certification within six (6) months of hire. Failure to obtain MRO-A certification within six months of hire will result in termination in the MRO-A position.

  • Knowledge and/or experience in the field of drug and alcohol collection processes preferred. Requires computer skills using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

  • Knowledge of Visio, Careplus, Medipac, and PeopleSoft is preferred.

  • Requires strong interpersonal skills to communicate with clients at all levels and oversee work duties of clerical personnel.

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks and projects within the constraints of deadlines and conflicting demands.

  • Requires analytical/critical thinking abilities to assess a situation and determine necessary steps to complete task, with minimal supervision.
