LPN - Contingent - Days - M-F - no weekends, no holidays
GENERAL SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of a registered nurse or provider, the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) uses sound nursing judgment in the provision of nursing care. Performs a variety of both technical and routine nursing services. Collaborates with the health care team in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the effectiveness of the nursing care plan. Demonstrates clinical competence.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES/Ambulatory:
- Participates in the on-going plan of care and focused assessment under the delegation of the RN or provider:
- Assists in the appraisal of an individual’s status and situation at hand, contributing to the RNs comprehensive assessment
- Collects pertinent information from patient and performs necessary task to prepare patient for examination or treatment.
- Recognizes and identifies any significant findings, i.e. symptoms, laboratory results, vital signs, etc. and determines immediate need or appropriate action.
- Monitors how the patient is doing in response to their treatment plan.
- Reviews pertinent patient information such as laboratory and radiographic data and notifies RN or provider of abnormal results.
- Seeks to understand and incorporate both safe practices and evidence-based practices into daily nursing care.
- Performs resuscitative procedures.
- Assists with delegated diagnostic procedures.
- Documents care in EHR.
POSITION SUMMARY:
- Position: Contingent
- Shift: Days: Monday - Friday, no weekends or holidays
- Location: Detroit
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Graduate from an accredited Licensed Practical Nursing School.
- For the ambulatory setting, previous ambulatory nursing experience preferred.
- Basic computer knowledge and keyboarding skills
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED:
- Current licensure by the Michigan State Board of Nursing as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
- Successful completion of HFHS pharmacology exam for the LPN.
- Current BLS
