Full-Time Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant – Cardiology Electrophysiology / A-Fib Clinic - (JACKSON, MI)
Position Summary:
This is an Advanced Practice Professional (APP) job opening. Two years of APP experience and electrophysiology experience preferred. Will review new graduates if RN experience is acceptable.
Advanced Practice Professional will provide health care and specialized health services to patients and families enrolled in Electrophysiology Medicine. The APP will coordinate care of this patient population in collaboration with all members of the health care team. This position will be 50% inpatient, 50% outpatient.
APP will manage and work to support A-Fib clinic, manage devices and travel to outreach locations.

Average # clinic patients seen per day – 14

- Independently evaluates patients in the clinic and in the hospital
- Ordering/interpreting testing and lab results, modifying plan of care to address results
- Provide clinical expertise and direction to support patient medication management
- Maintain accurate documentation regarding patient status, evaluations, and treatments to physicians, streamline the patient transfer process between levels of care, including communicating specific patient needs to internal and external team members and other ambulatory care providers
- Perform other related duties as required to assure patient safety and satisfaction
- Participate in the development and presentation of educational experiences for patients, families, and health care professionals
Schedule – 40 hours FT (36 patient contact hours, 4 hours administrative) – 8- or 10-hour shifts. Weekday and weekend coverage both OP clinic and IP. Rotating rounding schedule for weekends; 1:7 may vary with staffing.

Duties & Responsibilities:
1. In collaboration with physician(s), APP will provide independent acute and/or routine medical care to a patients and families enrolled in Electrophysiology Medicine.
2. Writes appropriate orders, if/when applicable
3. Practices safety, environmental, and/or infection control methods
4. Coordinates the activities of patient care and support staff within the clinic
5. Writes progress notes in EMR indicating patient status and treatment procedures performed
6. Provides health education to patients, families, and/or community health practitioners and groups
7. Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings, and workshop
8. May perform clinical research related to specific operations
9. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned

1. Knowledge of clinical operations and procedures
2. Knowledge of drugs and their indications, contraindications, dosing, side effects, and proper administration
3. Ability to maintain quality, safety, and/or infection control standards

Working Conditions:
Moderate physical activity. Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 25 pounds or standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day.
Work environment involves exposure to potentially dangerous materials and situations that require following extensive safety precautions and may include the use of protective equipment
Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment
Will work with blood or blood-borne pathogens and will require OSHA training
GENERAL SUMMARY: The Specialty/Invasive Nurse Practitioner (NP) will work in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment. The Specialty/Invasive NP will be responsible for the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, education, consultation, and care coordination as a first line provider to patients and their families. Provides inpatient and/or outpatient medical care. Works in collaboration with attending physicians, advanced practice providers, consultants, house officers, nurses, and other members of the medical care team to ensure that patient outcomes are achieved safely and efficiently. Specific procedures as per credentialing as indicated by training and experience. Works in one of the following departments: Cardiovascular Medicine, Emergency Medicine, ICU, Interventional Radiology, Nephrology, Neurology, Neurosurgery, Oncology, Orthopedics, Otolaryngology, Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine, Surgery, Urgent Care, Urology. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Master's degree in nursing. CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED: Current certification as a Certified Nurse Practitioner. Current State license as a Registered Nurse. Current BLS. Current ACLS/ATLS/PALS provider status as required by department.

Continuing Education
3. Applicant must have sufficient education credits to maintain licensure as required by the applicable State of Michigan licensing board
Certification
4. NP – Certification by a certification body recognized by the State of Michigan
5. PA – Certification by National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
Other
6. Michigan License, or in process of applying (must have proof of application)
7. Electrophysiology experience, preferred
