Enterprise Data Governance Specialist
GENERAL SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Manager - Enterprise Data Governance, this role is responsible for managing metadata across our data ecosystem, ensuring data assets are well-documented, discoverable, and aligned with governance standards. The ideal candidate will work closely with data stewards, architects, and engineers to maintain a trusted and transparent data environment.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Bachelor's degree in information systems, Data Science, Library Science, or a related field required.
- Three plus (3+) years of experience in data management, metadata management, or data governance required.
- Hands-on experience with metadata/catalog tools (e.g., Microsoft Purview, Alation, Collibra) required. Familiarity with data modeling concepts, data lineage, and data quality principles required. Strong understanding of SQL, data platforms (e.g., Azure, Fabric, OneLake), and BI tools (e.g., Power BI) required.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
- Ability to work cross-functionally with technical and business teams.
- Knowledge of data governance frameworks (e.g., DAMA-DMBOK) preferred.
- Experience with data privacy and compliance standards (e.g., HIPAA) preferred.
- CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED: Certification in data governance or metadata management is a plus, preferred.
