Director of Medical Education (MD, DO, PhD) - Graduate Medical Education - Allegiance Health - Jackson, MI
- Possession of an MD, DO, or PhD.
- MD or DO with ACGME or AOA approved post-doctoral training and additional training in education, public health administration or other health care training credentials preferred.
- Minimum of five (5) years of administrative experience in GME as a program director or administrative director.
- Prior experience as an institution’s ACGME Designated Institutional Official (DIO) and/or experience as a program director in an ACGME accredited program with a strong level of compliance with RRC requirements preferred.
- Knows, understands and ensures compliance with current ACGME Institutional requirements, Common Program Requirements and specific program requirements for the Institution’s sponsored programs.
- Knows and supports requirements for the GMEC structure and function: establishes institutional policies, oversees program directors, monitors program accreditation, orients and develops new program directors, and reviews and approves official correspondence to the ACGME.
- Understands the Institution’s process for budgeting including Medicare Indirect GME and Direct GME funding.
- Understands key CMS regulations including resident caps, FTEs and redistribution of resources.
- Knows, understands and implements ACGME requirements in support of resident well-being.
- Knows and understands the Institutional and State policies for physician impairment.
- Demonstrates commitment to continuous learning and applied learning
- Effectively applies situational leadership
- Fosters an environment of mutual respect and trust among colleagues and team members
- Advocates thinking and action that promote and support broader organization and health system goals; avoids and discourages thinking in "silos."
- Uses team principles and relationship-building values to motivate team commitment, synergy, and team decision making to achieve GME and institutional goals
- Possession of knowledge, skills and attitudes that enable function at "expert" level for most if not all "AAMC Core Competencies for Institutional GME/DIOs," and for those not at "expert" level, has the capabilities and motivation to attain "expert" level.
- If a physician: must be Board Certified in his/her field of medicine and licensed to practice medicine in the State of Michigan.
