GENERAL SUMMARY: The Director-Cancer Clinical and Translational Research independently provides operational leadership, direction for the management, growth, and integration of the Cancer Clinical and Translational Research Office (CCTRO) within the Henry Ford Cancer Institute (HFCI). The Director will lead collaborative efforts with HFCI leaders and faculty who use the CCTRO services to refine, develop, and expand the services offered. This will advance the HFCI's clinical/translational research portfolio and enhance integration at the interface between therapeutic, non-therapeutic interventional and correlative research. Directs and facilitates high level coordination to train staff, create and implement SOPs, help craft protocols, work with HFHS Clinical Trials Office Finance Administration staff for budgets, Regulatory staff for trial oversight, and manage project activity. The Director will lead the CCTRO in fulfilling its mission to advance innovative cancer research by collaborating with HFCI investigators and Clinical Protocol Office (CPO) leadership to collectively create knowledge that will improve the lives of patients through the conduct of dedicated and compassionate clinical and translational oncology research. This position develops and implements innovative programmatic, strategic, and operational approaches to advance the quality and efficiency of clinical research. The Director supervises the CCTRO Manager(s) and research staff. The Director oversees all areas of research operations in the CCTRO including regulatory, recruitment, employee and patient engagement, data, and financial management related to the conduct of CCTRO research studies. The Director promotes cross-functional coordination and ensures alignment with the HFCI vision and strategic goals. Ensures the development of Henry Ford's cancer clinical trial infrastructure that supports the clinical research community and is consistent with expectations of NCI-designated Cancer Centers as outlined in the Cancer Center Support Grant (CCSG) guidelines. Ensures that all institutional, local, state, and Federal Regulations, Good Clinical Practice (GCPs), ICH, and IRB requirements are met and that all research programs within the HFCI CCTRO are structured to continue to meet these expectations. The Incumbent will direct and manage the ~100 CCTRO staff, who support Cancer Center's goals and priorities in core programmatic and related areas. The role will include continued focus on increasing efficiencies, improving quality control, and providing a robust training and education program. Provides expertise, guidance, and oversight to the operational units within the CCTRO.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Bachelor's Degree in Business or Health Care related field required. Master's Degree in Health Care Administration preferred. Five (5) years of clinical trial experience, three of which should be in an oncology-relevant leadership role, including the execution of NCI CCSG expectations within a comprehensive cancer center setting. Three to five (3-5) years of progressive administrative experience. Demonstrated experience and knowledge, including the oversight of NCI CCSG expectations, including writing of relevant section of P30 support grant and presentation/defense at site visit preferred. Previous experience coordinating and managing oncology clinical research programs preferred. CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED: Current clinical research professional certification such as ACRP, SOCRA, or equivalent. SOCRA or ACRP certification preferred.
