College Intern - Healthcare IT/Data Analytics (Hybrid - Troy, MI) - Populance

Populance (a Henry Ford Health company) is seeking motivated and talented interns for the Summer 2025 Intern Program. The program, in collaboration with Health Alliance Plan (HAP), will run May 12 – August 8. This paid internship will require full time hours availability (M-F) during the summer session dates. It will be a hybrid work format, involving a combination of remote and onsite work/events in Troy, MI (commute & housing expense reimbursement not provided).
GENERAL SUMMARY:
This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain practical experience and contribute to our mission of enhancing the health and well-being of the communities we serve. As an intern, you will get exposure to various aspects of our organization and work closely with industry professionals, enabling you to develop valuable skills in the healthcare and insurance sector.
In addition to helping your assigned department meet its goals, you will collaborate with the other interns towards a common goal of completing a Capstone Project to present to leadership and other employees at the end of the summer. It will also provide the opportunity to attend fun networking events, make new connections, and enhance your presentation skills.
PROGRAM DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collaborate effectively with colleagues across departments to support a positive and inclusive work environment. Contribute actively to team meetings, brainstorming sessions, and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
Department Duties/Responsibilities:
- Project management & process improvement activities aligned to a variety of Populance's IT, Data, Analytics departments.
- Vendor program management & oversight activities
- Data management & statistical analysis.
- Help coordinate cross-functional teams.
- Develop and maintain strong professional relationships across operational departments.
- Perform administrative follow up by keeping track of assigned tasks.
PROGRAM EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Currently enrolled in, or a recent graduate of, an accredited 4-year undergraduate or graduate program in a relevant field.
- Excellent research, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
- Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and data analysis tools.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, prioritize workload, and meet deadlines.
- Demonstrated adaptability, initiative, and a desire to learn and grow.
- Knowledge or interest in healthcare, health insurance, or managed care is a plus.
Department Education/Experience Preferences:
- This opportunity is best suited for a student in Computer Science, Healthcare Analytics, Finance or a related program of study.
- Experience or classroom work in project management, data analysis, and process improvement preferred.
