GENERAL SUMMARY

The Student Intern will be integrated into the Architectural Design and Planning team.  The Student Intern supports architects in planning, developing, and executing architectural projects. This role offers hands-on experience with design software, construction documentation, research, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.  The team is responsible for 13-Hospitals and 500+ Medical Centers.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conducting programming with clients, planning and conceptual design for variety of healthcare project types varying from small scale renovations, developing concepts for new medical centers, designing/test fit major imaging equipment or operating rooms.  
  • Our design work is not limited to strictly healthcare environment, as many projects involve workplace/office design solutions or educational/conferencing/training spaces, or retail environments in our healthcare buildings.
  • Thorough documentation of our current portfolio of buildings - including Hospitals, Ambulatory Medical Centers, Medical Office Buildings, Corporate office spaces, School-Based Health Clinics and System-wide support buildings.  
  •  updating and documenting drawings and existing conditions for new Ascension locations. The internship position will also allow the team to develop design and planning documentation standards, while allowing staff architects/planners to focus on the influx of proposed projects.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Must be currently enrolled in college seeking degree in Architecture 
  • Strong visual, written, and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

  • Detail-oriented with an interest in sustainable and innovative design.

This is a limited term Internship position
