GENERAL SUMMARY: 

  • The Applied Behavior Analyst (ABA) therapist will be responsible for working closely with a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) to implement 1:1 or group interventions using Applied Behavior Analysis techniques to children with autism and related disorders. 
  • This person will implement behavioral treatment plans in a clinic-based program. 
  • The ABA therapist will be responsible for data collection of patient’s progress, providing regular progress reports and meeting with the BCBA, family, and school staff to review patient progress. 
  • Therapist may also provide assistance in parent training and development of program and teaching materials. 
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 
  • Provide direct ABA therapy developed and supervised by a board certified behavior analyst (BCBA) to individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and related disorders. 
  • Therapy may include: 
    • One-on-one discrete trial therapy for children in a clinic setting 
    • Participation in ABA parent training programs 
    • Assisting caregivers and educators in implementation of on-line ABA programming if recommended. 
  • Collect accurate, systematic data of patient progress in skill acquisition, behavior management, and/or daily living activities for each therapy session. Data will be collected and analyzed on a monthly basis. 
  • Input collected data into computer program on a weekly basis to facilitate the collection of data analysis, and tracking progress. 
  • Behavioral assessment and re-assessment, as needed, as directed by the supervising BCBA. 
  • Regular consultation/meetings with supervising BCBA to review patient objectives/goals, assess patient progress and recommend changes to treatment plan, as needed. 
  • Consult supervising BCBA to assist in treatment implementation for difficult patients. 
  • Attend monthly trainings given by the BCBA for continuing education on Applied Behavior Analysis. 
  • Regular consultation with medical staff and other ABA and non-ABA therapists (e.g., speech and occupational therapists) to review patient progress. 
  • Assist supervising BCBA in the following:
    • Presentation/marketing of program to service providers within the health system and the community at large via in-services, workshops, and development of promotional materials. 
    • Design and implement training materials/seminars for caregivers, teachers, therapists who may facilitate development and generalization of skills. 
    • Review/clarify billing and reimbursement documents with supervising BCBA, as needed.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: 

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Degree in psychology, education, social work, behavioral sciences, human development or related fields, preferred. 
  • At least 6 months experience working directly with children. 
  • Self-motivated, highly organized individual 
  • Able to work independently but also within a team environment 
  • Willingness to work non-traditional hours and be available by phone/email, as needed by BCBA, other clinical staff, and CADD Medical Director.
