Intensive Care Unit- is an 18-bed mixed medical-surgical intensive care unit.  The population consists of patients with multiple and complex medical diagnoses including but not limited to DKA, Respiratory Failure, Post-Cardiac Arrest, post-cardiac catheterization with interventions, sepsis, stroke/tPA, surgical procedures requiring q1h monitoring or lifesaving interventions. Our nurses are trained in caring for patients with balloon-pumps and Impella devices. RN utilize the hypothermic protocol in post-arrest patients. It is a great place to grow your knowledge and clinical skills. The RN staff will attend the Critical Care orientation class.  ACLS certification is mandatory within ONE YEAR of employment.  One year Medical-Surgical GPU experience is required.  ICU at Henry Ford Wyandotte Hospital is known for their great teamwork, close working relationships and quality patient care. Tours and RN Shadow days can be arranged.

GENERAL SUMMARY


  • Provides leadership in the coordination and delivery of quality compassionate patient care.  
  • Utilizes the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation, to provide, delegate, supervise and document care and teaching of patients and family. 
  • Effectively communicates pertinent patient/family information to health care team. 
  • Participates in finding solutions for variances from patient goals and ensures implementation of solutions.



EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: 

  • BSN preferred. 
  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing. 
  • Clinical knowledge and analytical abilities necessary to formulate effective nursing care plans. 
  • Ability to perform a wide variety of professional nursing services. 
  • Ability to effectively communicate with patients, families, and hospital personnel.

 

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED:

 

  • Current licensure by the Michigan State Board of Nursing.
